Great joy for the JMT Racing team and its driver Miroslav Mikeš followed the opening race of F4 CEZ at Autodrom Most. The Czech team, with its Czech driver, achieved their first win of the season on home soil, with Jenzer Motorsport drivers Max Karhan and Oscar Wurz finishing second and third.
Local drivers Miroslav Mikeš and Max Karhan started from pole position. All drivers navigated through the first corner safely. Mikeš kept the lead, and although Karhan had a slightly slow start and was defending his position from Oscar Wurz and Kirill Kutkov, the Czech driver managed to keep second place. So, the order after the opening lap was Mikeš and Karhan at the top, followed by Wurz, Kutskov, debutant Phillipe Armand Karras, then Michalina Sabaj, Kornelia Olkucka, Marek Mičík, Michelle Jandová and another debutant Jean Paul Karras.
The top trio of Mikeš, Karhan and Wurz were racing within a one-second margin, with a gap behind Kutskov. It was a very tight fight between them, maintaining the pace without really attacking each other, just waiting for any opportunity created by even a small mistake.
In the closing stages of the race, Kutskov joined the leading top trio, widening the fight for the win to four drivers.
There was also a fight in the other positions that unfortunately resulted in contact. As Marek Mičík tried to pass Kornelia Olkucka, he lost his front wing and Olkucka suffered a punctured rear tire, causing both to take a pit stop.
In the last minutes, Karhan tried really hard to find a way to take the lead from Mikeš, but Mikeš didn’t put a foot wrong and had a perfect race, leading from start to finish. Karhan came in second, with Wurz third and Kutskov fourth. Behind them, a couple of seconds later, finished fifth was Phillipe Armand Karras, sixth was Michalina Sabaj, followed by Jean Paul Karras, Michelle Jandová, and Kornelia Olkucka. Marek Mičík eventually retired the car.
For the second race on Sunday, Mičík and Karhan will share the first row, for the third race, Phillipe Armand Karras will start from the pole position alongside Kirill Kutskov.
